Before me Julius C. Monet, Mayor of the City of Shieldsborough, in said County and State, duly authorized bv law to administer Oaths, Personally came.. Robert Eager, John Martin, & Benjamin Sones, who being by me duly sworn upon their oaths do say: That they are well acquainted with Mrs. Rebecca Nixon, who has applied for the restoration of her name to the pension rolls; and have known her as the widow of George H. Nixon deceased for manv years previous to the late rebellion; that she is now about 79 years of age; that to the best of their knowledge and belief she has not during the late war encouraged the rebels, or manifested a sympathy with their cause, that to their certain knowledge some time in 1S62, shortly after the Federal troops took possession of the Citv of New Orleans, she went to that city and there remained during the whole war; and that they verily believe that she is, and always was, sincerely attached to the government and constitution of the United States, and that they have no interest in the prosecution of her claim to pension.

I, Julius C. Monet Mayor as aforesaid, do hereby certify that the above named Eager, John Martin , & Benjamin Sones are well known to me for truth and their deposition under oath is entitled to full faith and credit, and further certify have been well acquainted with Mrs. Rebecca Nixon for more than forty years, facts above stated are well known to me to be true.

I,	John J. Bradford Clerk of the Circuit Court of Hancock County aforesaid, do hereby certify, that Julius C. Monet whose signature and seal are affixed to the foregoing affidavits and certificate, was at the time of signing and sealing the same, the Mayor of the City of Shieldsborough, duly authorized by law to administer oaths and, that he was elected as such Mayor on the 1st Monday of January 1866, and his office expires on the first Monday in January A.D. 1S67, that full faith and credit is due to his acts as such mayor, and that his signature thereto is genuine.
