had attended Sunday School for 22 years without missing a Sunday. He had been faithful in all his church work until his death.
Rev. Perry Neal resigned on February 18, 1973, to go to a church in Montgomery, Alabama. Dr. Elwyn Wilkinson agreed to return to the church as an Interim Pastor for the second time.
September 23, 1973, was "Perry & Marcelene Neal Day" in our church with Bro. Neal preaching at both services. They were attending a wedding of a friend in our community that weekend.
Ronnie Hague left the Church in 1973. On February 6, 1974, Dr. Wilkinson announced that Don Moore, Director of the local radio station WXGR had met with him and worked out a radio schedule. Our church would have April 17 as the first day to broadcast.
In April 1974, Reverand Nathan L. Barber was called by the Church. At that time the Church experienced a spurt of growth.
During 1975, nine baskets filled with food for the needy were delivered by the Men?s Class in "Sharing Christmas". The Church approved the request of Riley Walker, son of W. B. and Merle Little, for Ordination to Gospel Ministry. The Church bought 300 new hymnals and gave others a chance to donate to the fund by purchasing hymnals outright or by donating then as memorial gifts. A Long Range Planning Committee was appointed as follows: Robert Magee, Dr. B. L. Ramsey, Noreen Barnes, Ethel Ladner, Ray McIntyre, and Jules Poolson. In July, a recommendation was made by Ray McIntyre for our Church to sponsor a Mission at Diamondhead. A Mission Committee was appointed composed of Robert Magee, Ed Holbrook, and Peggy Tedford. Merle Little was designated as Church Clerk and Peggy Tedford was employed by the Church as Music Director. A recommendation was made to sell a piece of property across the street from the Church behind the U. S. Post Office.
William Carey College moved its Extension to the Coast on 1976. The Church set "resolutions" for its support of the college. The Church continued to give 2% of the budget for restoration of Gulfshore Assembly Center for one more year. On July 14, 1976, our beloved Interim Pastor Elwyn N. Wilkinson, passed away to his reward on high.
