THE MOBILE QUARANTINE
We learn that Mayor Withers communicated with General Thomas a few days ago, requesting a modification of the quarantine order so as to enable vessels to meet boats from New Orleans at the quarantine and exchange freights.
Mayor Withers received a reply from Gen. Thomas on Saturday (August 25, 1866) informing him that the subject had been referred to General Woods, who has entire control of the new quarantine regulations.
The liberal course of General Woods during his administration of military law in our city (Mobile), leads us to believe that he will fully comprehend the necessity of such a modification, and grant it without hesitation.
By so ding he will in no wise endager any trooDS that may be stationed at this post, but simply keep up the present supply of provisions, and keep starvation from our doors.
