Beatrice Ladner retires
with 37 years
At the close of the 1977-78 school session Mrs. Beatrice Ladner was honored at a luncheon in the school cafeteria hosted by the administration, faculty, and staff of the Gulfview School in Lake-shore, MS. The occasion was Mrs. Ladner's retirement after thirty-seven years of service in the public schools.
The honoree was presented with several lovely and useful gifts. Mr. Harlin Hill, principal, also presented her with an In-service pin.
Previously, Mrs. Ladner had been honored by the Parent-Teachers Club who gifted her with a silver tray.
Beatrice Ladner began_ her career as an elemenary teacher in 1936 in Golden Meadow, Louisiana, where she taught for four years. She then moved to
Kaplan, Louisiana, for a period of ttiree years.
In 1948 she began teaching first grade at Webb School in the Bay-Waveland Municipal School District.
After twenty years of service in this system, Mrs. Ladner returned to the University of Southern Mississippi and the University of Hawaii where she became qualified as a librarian.
Later, Mrs. Ladner was a librarian in the Pass Christian Municipal District and became Supervisor of Libraries there. She served here for four years.
In 1972 she became libraian at Gulfview School in the Hancock County School System, where she remained until her recent retirement.
Beatrice Ladner resides with her husband, Clai-
borne, a retired Hancock County tax assessor and chancery clerk, on Blue Meadow Road in Bay St. Louis. They have two sons. Wayne is married to the former Patricia Kelly of Pass Christian. This young couple and their three children live in Metairie, Louisiana. Luther is a photographer in Houston, Texas.
