Schools, churches, and fishing industry were located on Sound and Bay shore. k Bay St. Louis vas losing its Oyster Boats to Biloxi apparently due to canning factories there providing market at better prices, according to Jan. 23» lS97» paper. On December 12, I896, a Business Men's League vas formed. It Includes many names of County leaders. October 3, 1896, it vas reported the Bay St. Louis Hotel, operatec by Mrs. Allen for 7 years, had been sold to St. Stanislaus College for $9,000.
