Morans of this family oday on the Gulf Coast who can trace their an-:estry to the first Joseph Morin of Canada and his wife, Louise Ladner of Cat Island, are also descendants of Pierre Morin 1635-1690) of Normandy, France. Piere, says Mrs. Moran, came from France to Nova Scotia, Aacadia and married there Marie Martin. Their son, Pierre Morin II (1661-1741) married Francoise Chiasson on Nov. 8, 1682 at old Beaubassin, now Amherst, Novia Scotia. Their son, Denis Morin, who married Madeliene Boulet on Nov. 20, 1718, In the village of St. Pierre-du-Sud, Montmagny County, Quebec Province, Canada, was the father of Joseph Morin I (1747- c.1806), who came to the Morin ariqli tZ/re JO/ ?: Gulf Coast and married Louise Ladner. She was the daughter of Nicholas Christian. Ladner and his wife, Marie Anne Madeleine Pacquet. Mrs. Moran's extensive research shows the Morans are distantly related to explorer Louis Jolliet and are de-scendants of an apothecary Louis Hebert, who was a friend of Samuel de Champlain. She has also established that Morans have been in Canada since about 1600. The maternal grandmother of Joseph Morin I was a Fournier and at least one of his descendants on the Mississippi Coast married a Fournier. Mrs. Moran would like very much to exchange information with anyone who has done research on Morin-Moran-Fournier family history. NICAISE (NECAISE) LADNER CUEVAS As the Mississippi Gulf Coast came under control of various foreign governments in the years of its colonization, spelling of names may have varied in records which were kept. Mrs. Moran continued her query with information on Pierre Morin III, baptized on Nov. 20, 1785, who married Judith Nicaise at Pass Christian on Nov. 25, 1805. Although Pierre is listed as his name In French, one may also find it listed as Peter in English and Pedro during Spanish administrations. The baptismal records for at least three of their children are at St. Louis Cathedral's archives in New Orleans. They are: Pierre Morin IV, who was born Aug. 8,1806 and married Marie Corestina Nicaise; Felicity Morin, born May 1, 1808, who married Francois Cuevas; Pauline Morin, born June 2, 1810 who married Sylvan Ladner. They may have had Dther children, possibly: Lucien Morin, born about 1815 and married to Henriette Aimee Nicaise by 1836; Jean Morin, who married Adele Ladner in 1841; Victor Morin, who reportedly married a Marie Nicaise; Edward Morin, who may have married Celestine Ladner; Norinne Morin, who married Carlos Ladner Jr.; Irma or Marie Erma Morin, who married Joseph Dubuisson; Celestine Morin, who married Washington Ellis and.
