SALT PANS ALOiJO THE BEACH SUGGESTED AGAIN AS WAS DONS DURING THE V.'AR
May 10, 189^
During the late war the Confederate States had salt pans located on the beach, in which salt vas manufactured for the use of the Confederate Army. Some of the nans remained on the beach until a few years ago, when they were gobbled up and sold by old Iron mongers.
It Is suggested that similar pans te provided by the Board of Supervisors, and that salt be made by evaporation, under the supervision of the "Courthouse Janitor, and when made, to be distributed liberally over the Courthouse floor and benches, with a view of salting down some of the innumerable bloodthirsty fleas, with which the place is now fully Inhabited.
