Historical Society met
The Board of Directors of the Hancock County Historical Society met Monday, Aug. 8th and decided to elect a chairperson for the Louis King of France bronze sculpture to be erected by Richard Barthe.
Also discussed at the meeting was a letter from James Steven, Mississippi historian, who wrote the society that it might be that Lt. L.M. Jones was buried in Turtleskin Cemetery. A reinactment of the burial service was held 111 years ago in Franklin, Tenn.
Two houses have been documented as having historic value in the current project of the society. Anyone knowing of a house 100 years old or older is asked to contact Max Berns or Mrs. G. Carter of the society.
