Che new buildings at Saint Stanislaus School.
New Low Income Housing has been completed under the supervision of the City Housing Authority with funds provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. These homes are most attractive and provide housing for families and some of our numerous elderly citizens.
A new county dump has at long last been opened in the year 1971. The old dump, which was rapidly filled to capacity with the huge piles of Hurricane debris, is being bulldozed and smoothed and plans are made and funds are being obtained to turn this land into a major regional recreation area.
The Police and Fire Departments have been constantly working toward a higher level of training and excellence. New quarters for these city departments are presently being prepared in an elementary school building which is no longer in use.
Further encouragement to merchants has been provided by Cards of Congratulations sent to those who are doing a good job in keeping their businesses attractive. These little cards were designed by the Committee and have been well received. Also recently initiated is a "Pride Letter" which will be compiled monthly by Mayor Carver and the Committee and mailed to interested citizens.
All of these things have been accomplished gradually during a very busy year of co-operation. This city is old in history and tradition, but in this year the people have shown a renewed spirit in moving forward to a better and cleaner town. "Pride" is returning to Bay Saint Louis.
