Hancock County’s best and brightest turned out for the dedication of Tercentenary Park on Beach Blvd. to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the founding of the Bay of St. Louis.

To mark the occasion. Gray quoted from the journal of Andre Joseph Penicault, carpenter for Bienville’s ship, Le Marin: “We shortly afterward found a beautiful bay, about one league in width, by four in circumference, which M. Bienville named the Bay of St. Louis because it was on the day of St. Louis that we arrived there.”
Gray said the idea for the
Bienville statue came after he learned the city of Biloxi would be celebrating its tricentennial with a life-size
