Come Sit Awhile Under Our Lady Oak
I have been around for more than 400 years I have seen births and deaths hopes and fears.
I have seen goals being accomplished and people being crushed
I have seen battles fought and faces blushed I have seen storms and hardships Singing and celebrations 1 watched girls become women from generation to generation.
I have stood strong but I’ve been weak I’m bold but I’m broken I’m old but I’m new To many I am a tree, but my story is true.
I'm rooted in faith and in hope and in love I’ve been given my life from the Man up above The love of a father gave me my hope To become a mighty, strong, beautiful oak.
I look at God day to day Stretch my arms up to pray I hear the church bells ring and ring Which remind me of my mighty king.
My structure is big I’m rough but I’m soft My roots kiss the ground And my leaves kiss the moss.
I hope to live longer to see the world change To see the beauty that leaves and the beauty that remains.
I began very small But I grew and I grew My branches are stretched To give shelter to you.
Come sit in my shade And take a rest for a while
