Historic document returns to Old Brick House The 1801 marriage record of Juan Baptiste Carco (Karcoux) and Pelagie Moran (Morin) has found its way home. Genealogist Gloria Smith Moran of Pass Christian has donated the document, written in French, and its English translation to the Old Brick House, originally the home of Juane Baptiste and Pelagie Carco. Juan Baptiste, son of Nicholas and Catherine Ladner Carco, received a Catholic Church dispensation to marry Pelagie, his second cousin. His maternal grandfather, Mathurin Christian Ladner, was a brother to Pelagie?s maternal grandfather, Nicholas Christian Ladner. Pelagie was the daughter of Canadian Joseph Moran and & By Regina Hines Louise Christian Ladner. The many descendants of this couple may want to know that the original marriage record can be found in Marriage Book 1, Page 92a, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile, Ala.
