During his pastorate the church facilities were painted both on the inside and outside. The pews were refinished and the handicap ramp was completed. Also, a new organ and a new piano were purchased. A new utility building was completed at the parsonage as well as other improvements (carpet, living room furniture etc.). And a new bus was given to the Day Care Center by a member of the congregation.
It was during this time that the Goldman family gave a stained glass window in honor of Briscoe and Sue Goldman, And following their wedding in the sanctuary, the T. W. Odom's gave the church their kneeling pew.
Rev. Moffat taught several Bible courses during his tenure which were on a church wide basis as well as through the UMW.
While serving as pastor of Main Street, Rev. Moffatt was elected as Secretary of the Mississippi Conference, which also included the printing of the conference minutes. He was Chairman of the District Council on Ministries, a member of the Board of Ordained Ministry, secretary of the Hancock Emergency Fund, and a member of the Bay-Waveland Rotary Club.
In June 1986, Rev. Wilton Kolston came to Main Street. He was a Methodist with a method. Even his illness had scheduled rest periods between scurrying evangelism. The church bought a computer to up-date it’s financial functions and to promote it's involvment in building more Methodist churches on the Coast. Rev. Holston used the privately given Community Fund for helping citizens with rent, utilities and medicine.
On April 3. 1987» the church bought the block south of the church for a parking lot.
