\ V Food pantry accepts check Hancock County Food Pantry president Aileen Sauzer accepts a check from Reba Echezabal, treasurer of the Learning Ladies • Extention Club which is part of the Mississippi Extension Homemakers Club. Echezabel stated, “We try to share a little bit once a year. We accumulate money through memberships and use the funds to assist education and service groups within the community.” (Echo staff photo by Jacqui Cochran) Sauzer receives award for services to elderly Aileen Sauzer, chairman of the Hancock Food Pantry board, recently received an award for services to elderly Mississippians in Hancock County during the 1992 Joint Conference on Aging. Twenty-one individuals and organizations from throughout Mississippi were honored during the awards banquet in Biloxi. The recipients were chosen for meeting individual. group, neighborhood and community needs of the elderly. Sauzer has served more than 6,000 volunteer hours and traveled hundreds of miles without compensation for the past six years. Because of her efforts, the pantry has survived recent obstacles to continue helping families in need. Each year, individuals, agencies and organizations that help aging network services providers are recognized during the banquet at the Joint Conference on Aging. Any individual or agency actively engaged in volunteer activities that benefit the elderly in the community may be nominated.
