________WEDNESDAY, APRu, 16,2008 ? 9A Firm wants to restore historic the A&G theatre BY ANTHONY JAMES Staff Writer A historic gem of Beach Boulevard in Bay St. Louis will be saved thanks to the work of a Yazoo City company. The A&G Theater at State Street suffered major damage during Hurricane Katrina. The building has a slight lean toward the beach. Alan Ramsay of Historic Renovations of Yazoo said will begin work next week once the city grants a demolition permit. Work will begin to stabilize the building and remove the face of the building brick by brick. Then, the roof will be replaced and foundation problems will be assessed. Because of the work, traffic will be reduced to one lane from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. along Beach Boulevard. The estate of Margaret Hayden owns the property. Ramsay said the building is for sale, but the current owners have a few ideas following restoration. Historic Renovations of Yazoo has also done work on the Waveland Civic Center and a Frank Lloyd Wright home in Ocean Springs. The renovation should be finished by the end of the year or early next year, Ramsay said. {/Sat/o(t ^/etoe/esvi ^ & Watch Repair SAINTS Watches, Pendants, Rings, Bracelets & More 315 K Highway 90 Waveland 466-0425
