THE TIMELESS CHARM OF BAY ST. LOUIS
CB's Coffee House
of surprises await. When you tire of shopping, you can choose from several coffee shops to sit and relax and take in the bay breeze.
It's no wonder that Bay St. Louis has long attracted talented people—from Dorothy Dix, who set the tone for Ann Landers and wrote her columns from her beachfront home, to Eliza Poitevent Nicholson, who wrote under the pseudonym "Pearl Rivers" and was the first female owner of a newspaper— The Times Picayune of New Orleans. More recent residents include Pete Fountain, director of The Oprah Winfrey Show, and Steven Ambrose, a frequent visitor and lecturer at da Beach House.
Bay St. Louis is a town with a sense of having grown and evolved over time. An Arnold Palmer-designed golf course named The Bridges and a new 500-room hotel, complete with five restaurants and a spa, are nearby. The historical town, beautiful bay, charming shops, and restaurants work together to make Bay St. Louis a complete destination package.
While jogging early one morning in Pass Christian, I stopped to chat with Bay St. Louis native, Chuck Breath, who said he was on vacation. I suggested he take his wife to Bermuda, and he replied, "When I go over the bridge, I'll be someplace better than Bermuda—it's called Bay St Louis."
What a great compliment for a very deserving town.	M
