What I have learned most well in my research is that if you look hard and long enough there is probably a record in most cases. I?ve searched in Jackson Archives, Gulfport Library, Biloxi Library, Jackson (bounty Archives, Pascagoula Library, Baton Rouge Library, Harrison County Archives (courthouse), and Hancock County Archives. After doing a great deal of research I discovered ?The Ladner Odyssey? to be the best single source for documenting history on a great number of early Gulf Coast settlers, especially those with a Ladner, Fayard, or Cuevas in their family.
Those searching for their roots should always remember: you cannot prune the family tree to suit your idea of what our ancestors should have been. They have already lived and died
