moving van and a telephone had only been installed ten minutes earlier, upon the return of the Lings to Waveland, when the Reverend Terry Crimm called to invite them back to "their" church. He eventually overcame the Lings' hesitation, and they were met with open love and forgiveness. On both sides. Their oldest, Lori, joined, a year later.
On March 13th, the time for Sunday school was changed so as to permit coffee and fellowship at its end and before church began. It was also noted in the Minutes of the Session Meeting that night, "Tithing has increased every month of 1978. The increase started in December of last year."
At a congregational meeting on April 2nd, a part-time secretary for the pastor was even approved in recognition of the increased workload, not to exceed 20 hours per week, and, at a Joint Session-Diaconate meeting on April 8th, it was determined that "Outreach goals of the church are in a state of transition. The present budget and previous ones reflect a dead church. The previous budgets have been of a defensive nature because the church was developing. It shows slow growth and more maturity now.	Benevolences could be
increased, but they could also still be specific."
However, the pastor had been severely wounded earlier, as noted above, and he had been offered a job to teach that he was tempted by. This possibility loomed high, and on May 21,	1978	it
became a reality. Terry Crimm's ministerial relationship was dissolved as of that date, Terry having been called to the Reformed Presbyterian Seminary in Jackson to teach the Old Testament, beginning May 28, 1978.
At this same time, Evelyn McPhail was elected to the Diaconate, and a pulpit nominating committee was elected by the congregation, consisting of John Hill, Neil Jeffrey, June Johnston, Tom Hitchcock, Patty McCarty, Nancy Little and Jack Wilbanks. Rodger and Kristin Ling would join the church, too.
