The Reverend Dwyn Mounger was requested to and served as an Interim Pastor, beginning in September, with the Reverend John F. Foy of Fayetteville, North Carolina being called to become the pastor at a congregational meeting held November 19th, to be effective January 1,	1979.
The vote was 37 for, three against and two abstentions. Neil Jeffrey also moved that the Reverend Dwyn Mounger be designated Pastor Emeritus, which motion unanimously passed.
Many changes had been effected during these years. More would be required in the future. First, though, would come the doldrums, an interim for the church, a time for some more healing to come about, divisions, rifts and problems to be set aside in favor of others to come, newly arising. Compromises would be in order, or so it would seem. Definitely in order. They would even become the norm for this church. But not at first.
