Howard. The next well was sunk a few years later at the corner of Howard Avenue and Lameuse Street, a gift from Harry T. Howard. Both wells are important parts of the city water system; the former furnishing drinking fountains for man and beast at the City Hall (and Market). The other is diverted into the city mains and covered with street paving now.
