Buddy Nicholas was famed for Boogaboo stories, drinking wine, and disappearig from yard-jobs. He lived in a shack which leaned and had no heat nor floor. Buddy would be cutting grass (or painting) for you, excuse himself to go buy cigarettes or use the bathroom (at Courthouse), and never return.
Mary Govan I remember primarily as being big mouthed, loud, and wearing men's clothes at a time when black women were seldom seen and never heard.
I never heard of Eddie Lula; and Bea Georgi ran for office as Justice of the Peace on slogans "A woman borned you; let a woman judge you."
Johnny Galoot Favre worked for the City on a garbage truck, and Louie Taconi may have driven it. Louie also had a gas station. Indian Joe I never saw sober. He worked primarily for Robert Genin, Sr., paddling his boat while Bob fished.
Mrs. Carmichael sold realty, edited a newspaper, and fought the establishment. She had U sons:	Homer ("Bear" - who had, naturally, wrestled a bear in
H.S.); Lucien, a merchant seaman during VJWII (who gave Boogie to his mother); Henry ("Hoagy"); and Mark (who was killed during WWII). Mrs. C. called me when Boogie was shot, told me she had his body in her refrigerator, and wanted to know if I knew of anyone who could stuff him. She also once told me Boogie's favorites in a can of fruit codktail were cherries and pear (exactly my own choices).
Eddie I. Jones might	have	been	crazy - but he was no fool.	He	was a	lawyer,
and once ran against	your	g.f.	for County Atty. He worked	for	or with
Robert Genin, Sr. Eddie, like Mrs. C., was anti-establishment, and forever fighting - and losing - to the "ins." Herein, I think, was the cause of his mental breakdown.
More interesting than your cousins John James and James John ("Buster" qnd "Judge") - or vice versa - were their parents, Ferdinand and Gertie Demourelle. "Ferdie" was your g.f.'s 1st cousin, a fine looking man, who supposedly won	an International Rowing Rade.in	Paris (and	when questioned
what he wanted fcr	his prize, requested "ice cream").	Gerdie	was	short,
fat, had flaming (dyed) red hair, and wore make-up as tho every day were Mardi Gras. Nevertheless, both F & G (while slow) were warm hearted people, and it was	always a pleasure to see them.	(If	Buster	and	Judge
were less than normal - it was their birthright.)
You are certainly most welcome to use the camp, either with or without the company of Grady and his family.
Juanita Gex tells me	that	Marjo Breland married Gerald Gex	and	lives	on
Bay View Court. I would think	all of the others above hr&	nov;	dead,	with
the exception of Lucien and Henry Camichael. However, I do not think they would consider themselves "characters", nor would Grady have anything in common with them.
Guess this covers it all - come see us.
Love,
