Sunset Limited
Amtrak has changed part of the time schedule aboard the Sunset Limited, which travels between Orlando and Los Angeles, with New Orleans as a major stopover. The schedule east of New Orleans remains the same, and the Limited still leaves New Orleans for Los Angeles at 11:55 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and departs New Orleans for Orlando at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays; time changes are in Texas and other cities heading west. In the new schedule, the train arrives in Los Angeles at 10:10 a.m. on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and departs Los Angeles at 2:30 p.m. the same days, a difference of several hours from the old schedule. An Amtrak representative said the changes were made in cooperation with the Union Pacific Railroad to avoid time conflicts with freight trains, which have caused delays in the past.
