Mr. L. A. Koenann, a graduate of St. Stanislaus College, and, Mississippi Normal College was principal; other faculty:	Miss	Toledo
Slade, Miss Blanche Stewart, and Miss Eva Garriga.***** In 1942 the school trustees of Dedeaux requested Reverend Francis Waters to get 3 Sisters to teach in the public school. The Dominican Sisters of New Orleans were willing to take up this work. Because residency for the sisters was not forthcoming, the matter was tabled until after the Civil War. In 1944 the Trustees again petitioned for 5 Sisters to teach at a salary of $70 per month. In I960 the vacant Dedeaux School,located next door to the church, was deeded to Sacred Heart Church.***
In 1941 the Diocese granted a right-of-way to Coast Electric Power Assn. to supply service to the church (and community) at Vidalia.*** In I960 phone service was connected.******
In the early 1970's Father William Vollor attended a Cursillo week end at Covington, La. and began plans for the vacant school property. The Cursillo (Spanish for retreat in Christianity) Center after renovation became the "Dedeaux Hilton", South Mississippi's first week-end retreat (April 1973). Msg. Joseph Mercier was appointed pastor of Sacred Heart and director of the Cursillo Movement in 1986 and continues to serve the 211 families in the parish. ***
