France first occupied this area in 1699; France claims it again at the replica of the original 1699 Fort Maurepas on the beach in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, for three days — October 8,9, and 10
Preliminary Schedule
Friday, Oct. 8
3	p.m.	Compagnies	franclies de la Marine from Fort Toulouse, Alabama, arrive in Ocean Springs,
joining the Ocean Springs Marines and guides at the Fort Maurepas replica, to encamp for the weekend through noon on Sunday, Oct. 10.
3:30 p.m.	Raising of the Colors; Musket Volley Fire, French Arms Drill
4:45 p.m.	Musket Volley Fire; Lower the Colors
7:30 p.m.	Slide presentation of French Colonial Archaeology
10	p.m.	Closing of the Fort’s gates, to re-open at 10 a.m. Saturday

Sunday, Oct. 10
Schedule repeats Saturday morning’s activities until noon when the Fort Toulouse Soldiers must prepare to leave for their home Fort in Alabama. Staffed by local re-enactors, the Fort will remain open until 5 p.m.

Directions to Fort Maurepas Replica
From 1-10, exit 50 South to Washington Avenue (straight ahead); at Porter & Washington at fourway stop, turn right onto Porter for one block; turn left onto Jackson Avenue for four blocks to beach. Fort is on your left about one half block.
