Massachusetts. While no one has ever found a record of Robert Carver immigrating to America, most agree it was in 1638 or shortly before. With our John Carver born in 1636 in England, before his parents immigrated, we now know why no one has ever found his birth / baptism record in America. Because Robert Carver first settled in Duxbury, everybody ASSUMED his son, John Carver, was also born there. We have not found, to date, any documented evidence to prove our John Carver was born in America. We are sure some will challenge the above conclusion and, if so, please contact us with your documentation.
Much information has come available in recent years via the internet that was not available to the early researchers. Some researchers recently state that "Robert Carver was probably born in Boston, Lincolnshire, England about 1594." From his Marshfield, Massachusetts death record in 1680 at "age 86," this is very possible. They also state that Robert's wife, "Christian Turner, was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England in 1596." Her Marshfield, Massachusetts death record in 1658 does not give her age at death. I hope other "researchers" do not take this recent birth information on Robert and Christian Carver as FACT, unless they find the original supporting records. We will leave it to others to add to this line. We will also scan some of our Carver documents and records, along with this report, into the "Memories" section of their FamilySearch.org pages.
