Mrs. Jane Macabee 310 Magnolia Thomaston, Ga, 30286 Dear Mrs* Macabee: While researching for other material the Sea Coast Echo Micro-Film Bay St. Louis Library December 1898 I found the following notice. "At the ripe age of 76 yeara Cap tain James B, Mitchell^ died Tuesday at his residence, on ttaion Street, after an illness of two weeks, from a complication of deseases brought on from an attack of the grippe. Born in Alabama in 1823, he became a resident of the county in 181*7, and for the past fifty-two years has been closely identified with its history. He served with distinction as an efficer in the confederate army, commanding a cavalry company. Cp.ptaih Mitchell was married in 18?0, near the Bay to Miss Anna E. Daniel, and who survives himwith seven children, four daughters and three sons. Of the sons Mr. J. L. Mitchell is an employee of the Louisville Nashville Railroad and stationed in Florida. Dr, 0. L. Mitchell is/practicing dentist in New Orleans, and Willis C. Mitchell is a prosperous farmrr near the Bay. The daughters all are married. They are Mrs Gfriffin Faoola (?) County, Tex. Mrs. D. C. Me Laurin, Meridian Mississippi, and Mrs. Coldmant (Goldraant) ? , Birmingham Alabama. The t".other and two sons J, 0. Mitchell and Q. L. Mitchell were present when the end cane. The deceased was Jiade a Mason by the Suchiana Lodge in Florida, in 181*7, and has alwajTS been/faithful member and often held responsible position in local lodges."
