communion monthly, for the first time, and determined, furthermore, that it preferred to take the elements together,	thus	putting another
divisive problem to rest, according to Minutes of the Session dated February 6th. Betty and Orrin Pilkey also transferred	their	membership to a
Charlottesville, Virginia church then. Orrin was a scholar and author who would be missed.
Total expenditures	for	the year were
$34, 439 . 40 . At the end of it, there were 79 members on the church rolls, one less than had started the year. Also of note was the fact that there were now six men and three women in the Diaconate. There were, however, only 16 students in Sunday school. These numbers would soon change, becoming larger in all respects.
In 1984, Larry Roberts would be elected to the Council of the South Mississippi Presbytery, a very high honor. Moreover, on February 12th, the congregation voted to exempt itself from the provisions of G-8.05012 and G-8.0502 of the Form of Government of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), which the congregation had previously voted to remain in, when the so-called "Northern" and "Southern" Presbyterian denominations had joined together. These provisions deal with selling, encumbering and/or leasing the property of the church. Title was retained to the church property; otherwise, it would have been transferred to the national denomination in effect.
At another congregational meeting, this one on August 12,	1984, the members agreed to a sale of
the manse for $90,000. It was agreed that these funds would be invested and the interest paid or used for payment of a housing allowance to future ministers in lieu of a manse.
The Session also voted on November 4, 1984 to recommend to the congregation that it change the form of government of the church to the unicameral system. John Covode reported on the benefits to be achieved, George Schroeder moved and Gus Rapp seconded that our church so move. Under this system, there would only be a unicameral Board of Elders or the Session, no Deacons, in accordance with Section G-6.0407 of the Book of Order, the functions of the Diaconate being transferred to the
