1849 - Steamers for Watering Places: “The fine steamer General Taylor, Captain Scott, leaves the Lake (Pontchartrain) end of the Railroad (Grant’s) on the arrival of the 9 V2 o’clock a.m. cars for Bay St. Louis, Pass Christian, Mississippi City and Pascagoula. The General Taylor is an excellent boat, with an efficient Captain and Commodore Graves is one of the most accommodating clerks on the Lake”.
