At 9:20 O'clock Wednesday night the Grim Reaper claimed another old and highly respected citizen, of this community in the person of Judge James A. H. Sylvester. Only eight or ten days since he was on our streets and was in the enjoyment of good health, but on Saturday _ night he was taken with pneumonia and from the incipiency of the attack it baffled the skill of the attending physician and his confiU

The deceased v/as born in Charleston, South Carolina, on the 14th day of July, 1831, and when yet a child removed with his parents to Alabama. Some thirty years ago he settled at Bay St. Louis, and here he made his home on the Blue Meadow road, one mile west of the city, v/here he and hiswife raised their family of three daughters and two sons, all of whom survive him.

Judge Sylvester served as a member of the board of supervisors for a mumber of ?erms and was repeatedly elected justice of the peace, both of which positions he filled with credit tohimself and to the satisfaction of the constituency which thus honored him.
He v/aa the oldest member of the Masonic fraternity on the coast,T\VL-having been reveiced into the order fifty years ago. During the war between the States, Judge Sylvester was a gallant soldier and
his love for the southern cause was ever dear to his heart.	<
