NONE OF THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED WITHOUT INTERESTED CITIZENS AND ORGANIZATIONS — LIKE THE AMERICAN LEGION, THE JAYCEES, AND OTHERS. WATCH THE PAPERS FOR MORE ON THE FRED CURET RECORD IN OFFICE. (Pd. Pol. Adv. ) THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR EXPERIENCE •••••• .....and an experienced lawman in the sheriff’s office during the next term will be of critical importance to the people of Hancock County. There are several reasons for this, the most important being the effects of House Bill 1095, commonly called the “Sheriff’s Succession Law.” The Sheriff’s Succession Law provides that the office of Sheriff and Tax Collector ’^e separated.. .and that a sheriff will be able to succeed himself in office. However, the new law also regulates, among other things, the minimum number of deputies the various counties shall have. Under the law, Hancock County shall have a minumum of two regularly employed deputies with law enforcement duties. I sincerely believe that Hancock County will provide more than two deputies, regardless of who the next sheriff happens to be. But, during the changeover your next sheriff must have the experience necessary to maintain law and order with a minumum number of deputies and equipment. I respectfully submit that I have this experience, and will be able to put it to work for Hancock County immediately. I have the vehicles, the radios, and other crime-fighting and peace-keeping gear ready to continue in service. This in itself represents a substantial dollar savings to the taxpayers. Practically my entire adult life has been dedicated to some manner of law enforcement and crime prevention. I am considered to be a professional lawman. During the past four years I have tried to conduct a courteous, efficient and professional Sheriff’s Department for the citizens of Hancock County. I humbly submit that many, many things have been accomplished during my term. (A few things are listed to the left.) Of course, I acknowledge the tremendous help I received from hundreds and hundreds of interested citizens. Without the assistance of the many civic, fraternal and service groups within the county we could not have accomplished nearly as much. I have publicly thanked them for their assistance in the past, and I take this opportunity to do so again. With due respect for others in the race, I feel that the record will show that I am, by far, the most qualified for this office. I humbly ask your support, assistance and vote on August 2nd.
