/Wal-Mart offers % of
sales to Food Pantry
On Friday, Nov. 29, a percentage of total net sale from 7-10
a.m. will be donated to the Hancock County Food Pantry, a local non-profit organization. Wal-Mart Stores across the company’s trade area territory are participating in this program.
“Associates of the Waveland Wal-Mart Store are proud to assist those less fortunate in our community,” said Marilyn Bullington, local Wal-Mart Store manager.
In addition to the donation of the percentage of sales, monies raised from in-store events will also be donated to the Hancock County Food Pantry.
“By choosing to shop early Friday morning,” said Bullington, “our customers can directly contribute and help fulfill wishes in their own community.”
“Wal-Mart associates work year round to support community projects and give back to the
communities we service,” said David Glass, Wal-Mart president and chief executive officer. “However, during this time of year, special emphasis is placed on sharing and caring in the true spirit of Christmas giving.”
Thanksgiving services /set for Tuesday night

The annual Community Thanksgiving Service will be Tuesday, Nov. 26, 7 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, Main Street, Bay St. Louis.
The service is rotated among area churches. A special collection normally goes to the Hancock County Emergency Relief, but this year’s has been designated to the Food Pantry, Dr. Nathan Barber, host pastor, reports.
The reason for the change is because of a tremendous increase in the number of families requesting assistance from the Fo«d--Pantry. The Food Pantry is supported and operated by volunteer members of the area’s churches.
Several local pastors will participate in Tuesday’s Thanksgiving service.
Everyone is invited to attend and also to a fellowship with refreshments following the service.
Barber also reminds church members that today has been designated as Food Pantry Sunday throughout the area, and to please remember to bring your food gifts to church.
