Garden club campaign to start with planting
The Bay Bureau Saturday. Feb. 22, is kickoff day for~the Bav-Waveland Garden Club’s beautification campaign which will see some 200 native trees planted along U.S. 90 be-tween Bay St. Louis and Waveland.

Street and Dunbar Avenue, Bay St. Louis, will launch the campaign, according to Mrs. Dan M. Russell Jr., civic development chairman, who is heading the project.
Mrs. Paul Miller is Arbor Day chairman.
Twenty-four large native magno-lia trees wil) he planted alonp the highway in commemoration of the terms of office of past presidents of
the garden club. Mrs. Russell said the beautification plan will observe the club's 35th anniversary as well as coincide with tHcTnafiorrs Bicentennial celebration next year.
Six of the trees will be planted around the Waveland Hospitality Center just west of Waveland avenue, honoring former presidents who reside in Waveland, and 18 will go to Bay St. Louis. ----------------------------\

Mrs. Russell said the club has extensive plans for beautifying the highway, noting flowering trees will be planted in the median.
She said business establishments are being encouraged to partici-pateTrTthe project, and more spe-c i f ically, the Arbor Day observance, bv planting a tree, preferably a flowering one.
