STOP 21
This hole is one of many-used by the Swamp Rabbit. As the name applies, this-rabbit frequents marsh areas. It resembles the Eastern Cottontail rabbit in many ways, but is larger and darker. As its species most mammals in the area is seldom seen during the day, preferring tc feed after dark.

The Southern Red Oak produces a valuable wood for construction and flooring. It is often planted for shade and other ornamental purposes.

The Black Cherry tree is a very valuable timber tree and a source of a tasty fruit. Its wood is used primarily for building hirrh quality furniture and its fruit for flavoring wine.

The Vincred Sumac is a shrubby tree found in dry woods and fields from New England to Florida. This Sumac does not have any of the poisonous properties of some of its relatives.

This stretch of trail runs between two different types of habitat.
Tis area is known as an ecotone. Ucotones often are occupied by many different STieciBS of plants and animals.

This preckly fruit bearing bush is the Blackberry, which is a member of the rose family. The berryis used to maVe jams, jellies, pies and beverages. In nature, it provides food and shelter to a variety of small animals.
