r , THE FIRST 50 YEARS of BAY-WAVELAND GARDEN CLUB ^ The Bay-Waveland Garden Club emerged in the deMontluzin drug store with discussions of how the towns of Bay St. Louis and Waveland could beautify and promote private and commercial gardens to attract more people to this part of the Coast. Since flowers, beauty, and gardens are considered the domain of the fair sex, these men persuaded their wives to organize a club for this purpose. On Tuesday, September 27, 1938, at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Weston, 702 S. Beach Blvd, Bay St. Louis, with Mrs. Leo W. Evans and Mrs. Gus Terry, nominated the following women who were the first officers of the Clubi President Mrs. George Rea Vice-President Mrs. Alice Buckley Treasurer Mrs. Leo Seal , Secretary Mrs. Eugene Mogabgab • Mrs. Leo Seal, Mrs. Elizabeth Weston and Mrs. Gus Terry were appointed to draw up the By-Laws in accordance with the provisions of the State Garden £lub.^ A program committee(consisting of Mrs. A. P. Smith, Mrs. Minna Briggs, Mrs Weston and)Miss Louise Crawford was appointed.6 Since Rotary Club of Bay St. Louis had sponsored the Bay-Wave-land Garden Club into the State Garden Club, it was hoped that the men would become members and the meetings were set for the 2nd tuesdays of the month at 8 P.M..
