To these groups were added (1963) the "Garden Therapy" for retarded, and, the Secior Citizens group. And with pride and prizes have been the Girl Scout groups under Mrs. John Holmes, Troop # 27 winning the Gulf Pines Council Certificate in 1974 and 1988.
In 1940 the club was the first to send a boy each year to summer State Conservation Campf in 1973 the lone male member of the Bay Sr. Hi Garden. Jerome Boudreau, won the Tri-Color award in the Christmas context,^and in ^976, Susan Carlson was sponsored to NCSGC and won a $1,500 scholarship.^	^

Sanctuaries were established in BSL and Waveland.
And of course, the club was represented at outstanding social-community eventsi 1947-construction of the RR bridge, 1953- $9 million^, road bridge, 1964-NASA Space Administration and 1970 the Stennis Airport.

Dan Russell won National recognition for Camellia Arrangements, i960 a room in the BSL library was dedicated to Miss Louise Crawford* 1971 Mrs. Wm. Hilliker, Beautification chairman, won the National plaque for Clean-Up after Camille; 1973 Mrs. C. Evans, Editor of official publication of Garden Clubs of Miss, "Miss Gardener"1 1974 the Silver Cup for 1st place in the Hands program for Jr. Gardners by Mrs. Dan Russell and Mrs. A. E. Voight; 1974 the Grealdine Dean Trophy for the best Yearbook by Mrs. Fred Loganj 1975 Mrs. Elda Duke received the Certificate of Merit from Dictionary of Internal Biography (Vol XI) for volunteer work with Hands Program of GCGCj 1975 Mrs. Lelyn Nybo won the President's Trophy at the 47th annual Convention, Garden Clubs of America.
Normal club activities were discontinued only during WWII at which time the ladies engaged in Red Cross, Civil Defense, A Victory Tea netting $17,000 stamps and bonds sold.^As a war memorial, a 3 bed ward was furnished at Kings Daughters Hospital with a plaque on the door with names of heroes of Hancock County.
HOW was all this enormous activity financed? 1 Dues, Hat Shows,
Flea Markets, Bake sale, Silent Auction, Garage Sales, Antique Show,
Art Exhibits, Fashion Shows, Raffles, plant and flower shows, and,
FRIENDS.
