The Mississippi Gulf Coast Council of Garden Clubs proudly presents the Bay Waveland Garden Club’s Standard Flower Show "Bay St. Louis, A Place Apart” at the Main Street Methodist Church, corner of Second and Main Streets in Bay St. Louis. The Main Street Methodist Church was founded in 1852 in the town of Shieldsboro. as Bay St. Louis was originally called. The sanctuary section of the church complex was erected in 1895. It is an outstanding example of Carpenter Gothic Architecture. The original Gothic arched windows and the five memorial windows across the front were designed and made by Milton Pounds. Additional memorial windows were installed at later dates. The Sunday School building was added in 1973. the fellowship hall in 1994, and the unifying new construction completed in 1998. The original sanctuary is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Bay Waveland Garden Club was founded in 1938 and federated in 1939. It is	an	active group in the cities promoting the advancement of gardening,	the
development of home gardens, the furthering of city beautification	and	the
protection of native trees, shrubs, plants and birds.

1.	Home of Rhenda and Jerry Saporito. #1 Golfview Drive. This custom built contemporary summer home has been a great getaway from the city for the Saporitos. The house is perfectly positioned on the lot. The great room is shaded in the summer and bathed by the sun during the winter months. The dining room table base, designed by Luis Colmenares, incorporates old cypress bam wood that came from Mrs. Saporito's parents' home in St. Joseph. Louisiana, for the unique table top. Iron chairs by Mario Villa complete the look. Most of the art work was created by Mrs. Saporito and her favorite painting is the one of her two sons on the beach. New Orleans landscape architect, Mark Thomas, transformed the gardens around the house, as well as the tennis court.
2.	‘Joie de Vivre," Home of Mr. and Mrs. Hester Plauche, 330 Poindexter Drive. Nestled on an acre of naturally landscaped grounds on the banks of Bayou Boisdore. the original one story bungalow was built in 1947. Former owners, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Jolley, renovated and enlarged the house with the assistance of noted Southern architect. A. Hays Town. The Plauches purchased the property in 1998. and completely renovated the main house. The large kitchen was designed for Mr. Plauche’s gourmet cooking talents and serves as a staging area for entertaining. It features built-in professional appliances, including a wine grotto, and an island that sits beneath a large copper hood original to the house. British colonial style decor gives the house a casually elegant, tropical ambience. A 6 ft. glass top table on a carved pineapple base seats 8 for formal dining. A pre-war Steinway piano serves as an elegant room divider. The renovation transformed a former 50 ft. porch into a casual seating and dining area with custom designed recessed service bar. All living areas offer spectacular views of the bayou. The house was christened "Jois de Vivre” by a relative who said the name describes the Plauche’s joy of living. Refreshments will be served on the grounds and pool area.
