Bourgeois, Louis - One of the most progressive and successful business firms of our thriving sister town is that of Messrs. Louis Bourgeois & Bro.  They keep the "Waveland Store" on St. Joseph street.  We commend the patronage of our Waveland friends to these enterprising gentlemen. (SCE 8/6/1892)

Bourgeois, O. M. was mayor of Waveland at time of publication.  He and his brother, Louis S. owned Bourgeois & Brother gen. store in Waveland. (SCE 5 Sep 1903).

Bourgeois, Ruby Mae

  Ruby Mae Williams Bourgeois, 72 of Waveland, died Sunday, May 26, 1996, in Waveland.

  A member of St. Clare Catholic Church in Waveland, she was also a member of VFW Post 4808 Ladies Auxiliary.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Robert Bourgeois; her parents, Earl C. and Gertrude Cope Williams; two brothers, Clomer "Tony" Williams and Leon Williams; and a sister, Lois Castro.

  Survivors include two sons, Robert W. Bourgeois of Sutter Creek, Calif; and Perry D. Bourgeois of Stockton, Calif; a brother, Jerry R. Williams.  (SCE 1996)

Bourgeois, Thomas J., Mayor of Waveland, son of E. V. Bourgeois and brother of Bay St. Louis City Commissioner W. L. Bourgeois.  He married Miss Jennie Ladner and fathered twelve children.  (SCEJUB42p28)

  When first elected mayor in 1906 he served until 1922. He was again elected in 1938 and was still serving when article was written in 1942. Under his administration the city hall was built in 1906-08.  ((SCEJUB42p28)

W. L. Bourgeois has developed an enormous trade, not only at Bay St. Louis and Waveland, but through the country;  he does considerable shipping along the L&N ., all the way from Lake Shore to Mississippi City.  For the convenience of his local trade, he operates a number of delivery wagons.  Mr. Bourgeois has the reputation of carrying the most complete line of fancy groceries in this section.  in addition to which he also handles a large stock of notions. shoes, hardware, feed stuffs, paints, and receives fresh Fox River Creamery Butter daily.  Mr. Bourgeois was born and raised in Hancock County on the Coast and has been prominently identified with commercial affairs for the past twenty-five years; his store building is situated directly opposite the Hancock County Bank, right on the Beach.  It has dimensions of 30 x 60 feet, and the entire basement is used for the storage of heavy staples and reserve stocks. Mr. Bourgeois is a large property holder and takes a keen interest in advancement of Bay St. Louis; his telephone No. is 16.  (PHOTO HCSB)
