Lakeshore Cemetery and St. Johns Church, approximately 1/2 mile south of Lakeshore-Lower Bay Road intersection, was originally the Garcia Family church and cemetery. Present building is new. (Interview with Tuleter Oliver)

We, Frank Cuevas, Onezan Cuevas, Rosemond Cuevas, John D. Cuevas, Ursin Cuevas, Lucien Cuevas, Cyrille Cuevas, Armand Cuevas, Mary Deloisie Nicaise, Euphrosine Ladner, and Armantine Mauffray, heirs and distributors of Frank Cuevas deceased being desirous to protect and preserve the grave yard grounds, where repose the remains of our deceased parents, as well as other kindred and friends, which grounds belong in common as the heirs at law of Frank Cuevas, deceased, convey and warrant the following described piece of land to with: The North East Quarter of the South West quarter of Section twenty six, Township seven south of Range Fourteen west. Said land being in Hancock County, State of Mississippi, containing forty acres more or less. The said land to remain perpetualy as a Cemetery, and common graveyard. It is understood and agreed by these presents that the timber now growing on said land, except such as are planted or ornamental shade tres used by the friends of the dead, in the grave yard, is donated to the Catholic Church on Rotten Bayou in said County, known as the St. Joseph Church, and to be used by the direction of the Parish Priest of said Church.
