Schafer, James Wingate, Maj.  -  November 19, 1999

Major James Wingate Schafer, Retired, USAF, 80, of Kiln, died Friday, Nov. 19, 1999, in Biloxi.

Major Schafer was a native of Olympia, Wash. and a long time resident of Kiln. He was a Protestant, Major Schafer was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force serving in World War II and retired as a Major and P61 Black Widow Pilot. He also retired from Lockhead-Martin Corp, New Orleans as a configuration specialist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward H. and Lillian Moorehead Schafer; a sister, Adele Schafer; and a brother, Edward Schafer.

Survivors include his wife, Shareen W. Schafer of Kiln; four sons, Kent MacKay and Christopher Schafer, both of San Diego, Calif., Bruce Schafer of Aloha, Ore., and Spencer Niolon III of LaFayette, La; two daughters, Brigitte Nicole Giessler of Seattle, Wash., and Shawn Lemmons of Columbus, Miss; a brother, William Schafer of LaCrescenta, Calif., and four grandchildren.

Visitation was Wednesday evening at Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis. Services will be conducted Friday, Nov 26 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel, followed by interment at 12.30 p.m. in Biloxi Nationa Cemetery with full military honors.
