Sheppard, Gladys - February 26, 1997
Gladys Sheppard, 68, of Bay St Louis, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997, in New Orleans.
Mrs. Sheppard was a native of Bay St. Louis and a member of First Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board, Junior Matron, Senior Mission, Beautification Club and Pastor's Aide Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and her husband, Alphonse Sheppard Sr.
Survivors include five sons, Alphonse Sheppard Jr., James Sheppard, both of Jackson, the Rev. Clarence Sheppard Sr. and Samuel Sheppard Sr., both of Bay St. Louis and the Rev. Alfred Sheppard Jr. of Tamps, Fla.; a daughter, Janet Peppers of Okinawa, Japan; a sister, Jessie Banks of New Orleans ; a brother, Ernest Benoit of Chicago; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today at First Missionary Baptist Church, where friends may call from 6:30 p.m. until service time. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Garden of Memories in Bay St. Louis.
Bayous Funeral Home in Picayune is in charge of arrangements.
