It is with a feeling of profound sorrow that we are called upon to chronicle the demise of a true Christian lady whose name appears at the head of this article.
The deceased, Mrs. Martha Demay Ayres, had been ailing for a long while, and it was yesterday noon when relief was given by the inevitable end, after a most beautiful life of 49 years.
Mrs. Ayres was the beloved wife of Rev. Nelson Ayres, of Grace Church, Nicholson avenue; and a more devoted Episcopalian could not be found. She leaves several daughters and sons and a host of friends to mourn her loss. The funeral took place from Grace Church at 12 pm
