Joyner, R. A., Captain - May 1, 1895
Captain R. A. Joyner, a native of Saint Tammany's parish, La., and an old resident of this city, died at his home on Main street 9 o'clock Wednesday night. Capt. Joyner, aged 72 years, had been lingering for many months past and suffered much from asthma. He was a veteran of the Mexican war and captain of Company F., 3rd Mississippi Regiment. The tuneral took place Thursday evening at 4 o'clock and was attended by many of the old soldier's home friends and acquaintances.
