Schambach, Edward L. Jr.  -  January 4, 2006

Edward L. Schambach, Jr., age 81 and a resident of Kiln, MS, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006, in Kiln.

Mr. Schambach was a native of New Orleans, LA, and a graduate of Fortier High School and Loyola University in New Orleans. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II in the Burma Campaign with the Flying Tigers, and he flew #2 in combat cargo planes supplying front line troops over the Himalayas. He was detailed to secure information by going behind enemy lines and taking Japanese officers as prisoners. He served 25 years as rural postal carrier in Pass Christian prior to retiring.

Mr. Schambach was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ladner Schambach; parents, Edward L. and Blanche Boucvalt Schambach, and sister, Gloria Schambach.Survivors include three sons, Edward Schambach, Gregor Schambach, and Kendall Ladner; a daughter, Kim Ladner, all of Kiln; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held in Standard Sand Hill Cemetery in Hancock County, MS, with Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, Hwy 49 North in Gulfport, in charge of arrangements.
