Kirschenheuter, Russell J. Rev.  -  December 9, 1958

A Requiem Solemn High Mass for Rev. Russell J. Kirschenheuter, C. M., was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, New Orleans, Tuesday. Interment was in St. Vincent's Cemetery.

Father Kirchenheuter, a native of New Orleans, was well known in Bay St. Louis as he visited on many occasions at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Elliott.

Death came to the 68-year-old priest Friday, December 5, at 3:30 p. m. at Hotel Dieu.

The Rev. Kirschenheuter; who was ordained to the priesthood at Kenrick Seminary in Webster Grove, Mo., June 14, 1917, offered his first Mass three days later in St. Stephens Church in New Orleans.

He taught for 42 years in various seminaries, including St. Mary's in Perryville, Mo., St. Thomas': in Denver, Colo., St. Louis Preparatory in St. Louis and St John's in Camarillo, Calif. He also served as assistant pastor at St. Vincent's Church in Los Angeles for 14 years.

He was a member of the Denver Council, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his sister, he is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
