Pagano, Sylvester A.  -  June 12, 1998

Sylvester A. Pagano, 77, of Pass Christian, died Friday, June 12, 1998, in Biloxi V. A. Medical Center.

Mr. Pagano was born October 14, 1920, in Bay St. Louis and had been a lifelong resident of Pass Christian. He was a parishioner of St. Paul's Catholic Chuirch.

He was a Chief Petty Officer Coast Guard veteran of World War II serving on the USS Bittersweet.He was a retired electrician and a member of IBEW, Local 903.

Mr. Pagano was also owner of Henderson Point Grocery from 1946 until 1969 when it was destroyed by Hurricane Camille. He was a member of the American Legion Post 139 for 50 years. Upon his retirement he owned and operated Pagano Bait Shop where friends and neighbors frequently visited.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Myrtle R. Pagano; a son, Michael A. Pagano; his parents, Mary Ann and Sam Pagano; a sister, Catherine Luce; and a brother, Salvador Pagano.

Survivors include a son, Sylvester A. Pagano Jr., of Ft Walton Beach, Fla,; two daughters, Mary Broome of Lafayette, La.; and Jackie Nickels of Houma, La.; nine grandchildren; one sister, Annie P. Lutz of Pass Christian

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to l p.m. Monday, June 15, at St. Paul's Catholic Church followed by a mass of Christian burial at l p.m. Burial will be at Gulf Coast Memorial Cemetery in Bay St. Louis.

Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis is in charge of arrangements.
