Twelve Bay St. Louis artists will be featured Sunday in an open studio tour, beginning at 3 p.m. and continuing until 6 p.m.
Nine of the artists will open their studios to the public. They include Robert Fiedler, 210 Beach Boulevard; Nadine Stamm, 111 Main Street; Jean Hammett and Kat Fitzpatrick, 125 Main; John McDonald, 126 Main; Creations in Stained Glass, 110 South Second Street; David Wallace, 112 South Second Street; Alice Moseley, 214 Bookter St.; and Gerald Bienve-nu, 1250 Old Spanish Trail.
The remaining three artists will be featured at Serenity, located at 126 Main in the same building as McDonald?s Studio. They include Lucille Luke, Barbara Brodtmann and Jeanne Kruse Warner.
Jerry Dixon, owner of Serenity, said the event is designed to show the public only a few of the many artists in Bay St. Louis.
?For this first one, we want to spotlight 12 of the people we knew of; there are a lot more artists out there and we want them to come out and be seen,? said Dixon, who hopes similar studio tours can be arranged as an annual or seasonal event.
?People will get to actually go into the studios and see art in progress,? he added. ?They?ll be able to talk to the artists about the creative process.?
Dixon said he knows of no other programs in the area which feature art in progress rather than completed works.
?Bay St. Louis is an artists? community and we?re beginning to recognize it. It always has been one; artists have been coming here for years, but there hasn?t been anything to put the
