Gulf Coast Writing Contest deadline nears
The deadline for the Gulf Coast Writers Association annual contest, ?Let?s Write,? is almosthere. All entries must be postmarked no later than
February 15.
The contest is open to all writers, published and unpublished, and is divided into two groups: adult and young adult,
ages 13 through 18.
Categories open to adults are poetry, fiction and non-fiction. The latter two categories are limited to 3,000 words and poetry is limited to 36 lines. There is a $3 entry fee for each submission.
In the young adult contest only poetry and fiction are available with a 36-line limit in poetry and 3,000 words in fiction. There is no entry fee for young adults.

Winners will be announced at the Gulf Coast Writers Association?s annual writers conference March 23 at the USM Gulf Park campus.
The contest, which drew more than 200 entries last year, is a major element of GCWA?s effort towards improving literacy in Mississippi.
Support for this effort is emphasized by the judges who represent academia, printed news media and the publishing business.
