Hancock County Bank was opened for business Oct 9th, 1899* The prime movers at that time were Peter and P. E. Hellwege of Peter Hellwege & Co., noted cotton, stock and bond brokers of New Orleansj F. B. Dunbar of G. W. Dunbar's Sons of English Lookout and New Orleans, and Eugene H. Roberts, grain and flour business in Baltimore, Maryland. Local interest werei and stockholdersi Board of Directorsi Joseph F. Cazeneuve, merchant and sheriff, E. H. Hoffman, clerk of Chancery Court, Charles Marshall, Supt of N.O. and Mobile division of L.& N. RR, and Pres of Pontehartrain RR of La.
In 1902 branches were established at Pearlington, and Pass Christian, Miss. Board included* H. S. Weston of Weston Lbr Co.} J. A. Favre, of Favre Lbr, Co, Favreport, Miss; and V/. J. Poitevant, VP of Po^tevent & Favre Lbr Co., Pearlington,
