CITY HALL, ELECTRIC LIGHTS, SIDEWALKS OR PAVED STREETS January - 1892
’’The Guide" - January 11, 1929
The Eay St. Louis "Sea Coast Echo" was founded in January 1892.
At that time of their first issue, Bay St. Louis had no banks, no city hall, and the courthouse was an old -wooden strucure.
There were no electric lights, no sidewalks and no paved streets. At night when one wished to go about he had to carry a lighted lantern to keep from falling over cattle which roamed the streets at will.
