Dear Mr. Gray:
Thank you for inviting me to attend the ceremonies on Sunday, December 13, that have been scheduled to dedicate the new historical marker for the Battle of the Bay of Saint Louis. I shall be out-of-state at that time attending the annual meeting of State History Administrators and regret that I cannot be with you.
Our Department will be represented by Susan Enzweiler, architectural historian, Division of Historic Preservation, who, as you know, has undertaken architectural survey work in Bay St. Louis.
The Hancock County Historical Society is to be commended for its work in promoting the preservation and interpretation of the history of your area. We especially appreciate the Society's leadership in promoting the erection of the historical marker to commemorate the Battle of the Bay of Saint Louis.
With every good wish, I am
